Leatherdale and Other Deceased Members Bursary

The Leatherdale and Other Deceased Members Bursary was established to honour the memory of some of the most dedicated Conservationists in the Orillia Area. Through their gifts of time, skill and money over the years, it has made it possible for future generations to enjoy the great outdoors and the environment around us.

The Orillia Fish And Game Conservation Club, is happy to announce our Bursary winners for 2015.


The 2015 Leatherdale Bursary First Place Winner of $2000.00 is Jasmine Thompson.15.06.16 OFGCC Bursary winner Jasmine Thompson TLSS

Jasmine Lives on Florence Ave in Orillia and plans to attend the University of Toronto, studying Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
Her parents are Larry Thompson and Janine Turnbull. Congratulations Jasmine!

The 2015 Leatherdale Bursary Second Place Winner of $1000.00 is Nicolas Brancatella.15.06.16 OFGCC Bursary 2nd place Nic Brancatella PFCSS

Nicolas lives on Sandlewood Trail in Brechin and plans to attend Lakehead University in Orillia, studying Environmental Sustainability.
His parents are Julie and Vito Brancatella. Congratulations Nicolas!

General Regulations:

1. Any student from one of the following; OD-PARK Secondary School, Twin Lakes Secondary School and Patrick Fogarty Secondary School may apply.
2. The candidate must be planning to proceed to further their education or training at a College of Applied Arts and Technology and/or at an accredited University in the field of conservation or related fields leading to jobs in forestry, conservation, biology and environmental sciences or related fields.
3. One bursary of two thousand dollars ($2000) will be awarded to the first successful applicant and a second bursary of one thousand dollars ($1000) may be awarded to the second successful applicant. In the Fall, the first instalment will be presented upon proof of registration and the second instalment will given in January upon proof of a successful Fall Term and registration in the second term.
4. Applications must be made on an official application form for consideration and the candidate must be available for an interview with Club’s Bursary Committee.
5. The Bursary Committee of the Orillia Fish & Game Conservation Club will make the awards.
6. Transcripts of marks for grade 12 (to date) must accompany the application; but letters of reference should be sent directly to the Club’s address or other designated address by the reference writer.
7. Should there be no successful applicant at an Orillia High School; the Club may, at its discretion, consider another student enrolled in a conservation related course.
8. Completed applications must be submitted by June 1st, 2015 to the Club address below.
